Job summary

University of Texas at Austin's Utilities and Energy Management seeks an Assistant Electrical and Controls Supervisor in Austin, TX. You will lead installation, retrofit, and maintenance of electrical and control systems in a utility generation environment, ensuring code compliance and safe operations.

The role requires a Texas Journeyman license, five years of related experience, and a high school diploma or GED.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or GED.
• Five years of related journey-level experience, two of which in an industrial or utility environment with primary experience in the installation, retrofit, modification, inspection, testing, preventive, and corrective maintenance of low and medium voltage circuit breakers and switchgear, lighting, battery equipment, motors, motor starters, VFD’s, soft-starters, PLC, DCS, UPS, and ATS systems.
• Have current Texas Journeyman Electrician license.

Responsibilities

• Execute and supervise the installation, retrofit, and modification of low and medium voltage circuit breakers and switchgear, lighting, battery equipment, motors, motor starters, VFD’s, soft-starters, PLC, DCS, UPS, and ATS systems, and other electrical and controls related items in a power and chill water production environment. Maintains compliance with the National Electric Code.
• Execute and supervise testing, preventive and corrective maintenance of low and medium voltage circuit breakers and switchgear, lighting, battery equipment, motors, motor starters, VFD’s, soft-starters, PLC, DCS, UPS, and ATS systems.
• Execute and supervise detailed inspections of low and medium voltage circuit breakers and switchgear, lighting, battery equipment, motors, motor starters, VFD’s, soft-starters, PLC, DCS, UPS, and ATS systems.
• Execute and supervise after hour call outs and troubleshooting of system problems and develop best troubleshooting practices flow charts.
• Supervise and monitor safety, enforce safety policies, and manage equipment operation including lifting and hazardous environments.
