Job summary

State of Colorado is seeking a Communications Officer within the Department of Public Safety to coordinate internal and external communications for CMHIP, including police dispatching, emergency response coordination, and CCIC/NCIC access. The role supports 1200+ employees and multiple agencies to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.

Responsibilities include handling emergencies, operating the telephone switchboard, paging systems, and maintaining logs.

Qualifications

• One year of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position.
• Completion of an authorized Communication Training Officer Program or equivalent may substitute for the required experience.

Responsibilities

• Receives and records emergency and routine police complaints.
• Provides telephone switchboard assistance to CMHIP and campus agencies by routing calls and maintaining directories.
• Monitors the Institutes 911 emergency telephone and responds to emergencies and preparedness drills.
• Locates personnel through paging systems and conducts weekly testing of the alpha page system.
• Performs general clerical duties and manages restricted key distributions.
• Executes other duties as assigned within the scope of practice.
