Job summary

ChristianaCare in Newark, DE is recruiting an Emergency Medicine Clinical Pharmacy Specialist to work full time on a midnight shift (8:00 PM–8:00 AM). You will collaborate with ED clinicians, assess drug therapy, provide patient care, and lead pharmacotherapy initiatives in trauma, stroke, and critical care.

The role includes education, med history review, reconciliation at admission/transfer/discharge, and participation in formulary reviews and protocols.

Qualifications

• PharmD required with ACPE accreditation.
• Completion of ASHP-accredited PGY1 residency; emergency medicine preferred.
• ASHP PGY2 EM residency or equivalent experience in EM/trauma center.
• Board certification (e.g., BCEMP) within 2 years of hire.
• Current Delaware licensure or eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Serve as ED pharmacy resource for trauma, stroke, cardiac arrest and unstable patients.
• Educate ED team and discuss pharmacotherapy with patients and families.
• Review med history, reconcile meds at admission/transfer/discharge.
• Evaluate therapy for indication, dose, interactions, allergies; monitor ADEs.
• Participate in antimicrobial stewardship and high‑risk/costly medication optimization.
• Develop and implement ED drug therapy protocols and order sets.
• Present drug monographs and participate in Pharmacy & Therapeutics activities.
• Mentor pharmacy students and residents in ED rotations.

ASHP-accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency

ASHP-accredited PGY2 Pharmacy Residency (Emergency Medicine)
