Job summary

ProMedica is seeking a Part-time Patient Care Tech for the Emergency Center. The role supports the patient care team with exams, data collection, specimen handling and coordination of admissions, discharges, transfers, and procedures.

You will answer phones, assist with scheduling, and ensure supplies and equipment are ready. Requires a high school diploma with EMT/Paramedic or nursing student training, English proficiency, and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Education: High school graduate or equivalent plus EMT/Paramedic, 2nd year nursing student, CNA, MA, or healthcare related higher education training.
• Skills: Ability to read, write, and speak the English language. Must have excellent communication skills and telephone etiquette. Ability to perform basic math and must have basic computer skills. Ability to deal effectively with a changing environment and be open to new ideas. Ability to function quickly in stressful situations. Must have medical terminology and the ability to operate diagnostic equipment. Must be a Notary in the State of Michigan (OB only). Years of Experience: Minimal one year experience in an acute care setting delivering patient care. Certification: BLS, System Approved De-escalation training per unit requirements.

Responsibilities

• All essential duties listed below (unless noted) relate to patient care across age groups.
• Applies knowledge to provide care appropriate to infant to geriatric patients.
• Assist physicians and nursing staff with examinations, procedures and direct patient care.
• Coordinate admission, discharge, transfer procedures and patient data collection.
• Answer phones, take messages, direct calls and enter information into the computer.
• Transport patients and deliver specimens and documents as needed.
