Job summary

Baltimore City Office of Emergency Management is seeking an Operations Section Chief for a non-benefit, contractual role. Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in public administration, public policy, political science, public health, emergency management, planning or related field and at least 3 years of relevant experience.

Strong project management, communication, and supervisory skills are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in public administration, public policy, political science, public health, emergency management, planning or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in the listed fields.
• Excellent project management, analytical, communication (written and oral), organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the Duty Officer Program and ensure full staffing of on-call shifts.
• Train staff in hazardous materials handling and disaster protocols.
• Respond to major incidents and coordinate triage, evacuation and interagency communication.
• Develop relationships with fire, EMS and other responders for effective operations.
• Review and edit emergency management reports for accuracy and completeness.
• Provide ICS training and develop multi-year training and exercise schedules.
