Job summary

Tulsa ER & Hospital is seeking an Emergency Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to cover the ER from 11pm-7am. You will stabilize patients, perform critical assessments, and coordinate care within the emergency department.

Responsibilities include comprehensive assessments, managing acute conditions, suturing and wound care, and collaborating with physicians on treatment plans while ensuring HIPAA-compliant documentation and patient education.

Qualifications

• Must hold an NP or PA license with emergency medicine or acute care certification.
• Experience in ER or trauma centers is highly desirable.
• Proficiency with EHR documentation and HIPAA compliance.
• Familiarity with ICD coding and rapid clinical decision making.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and medical histories to determine urgent care needs.
• Manage acute conditions including trauma, cardiac events, respiratory distress, and infections.
• Perform routine ER procedures such as suturing, splinting, and wound care.
• Document patient encounters thoroughly in the EMR system while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
• Collaborate with physicians to develop treatment plans and coordinate care.
• Assist in diagnostic evaluations using labs, imaging, and specimen collection.
• Educate patients on treatment plans, discharge instructions, and follow-up care.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including physical examinations and medical histories to determine urgency and appropriate treatment pathways.
• Manage acute conditions such as trauma, infections, cardiac events, respiratory distress, and other urgent health issues with confidence and precision.
• Ability to perform routine emergency medicine procedures such as suturing, wound care, fracture treatment, ACLS etc.
• Utilize electronic health record (EHR) system to document patient encounters thoroughly and accurately while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Collaborate with physicians to develop comprehensive treatment plans.
• Assist in diagnostic evaluations using laboratory testing, medical imaging, sonography, and specimen collection/processing to inform clinical decisions.
• Provide patient education on treatment plans, discharge instructions, medication administration, and follow-up care.

Requirements

• Valid NP or PA license with certification to practice in emergency medicine or acute care settings.
• Proven experience working in emergency rooms (ER), or trauma centers is highly desirable.
• Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems for efficient documentation..
• Knowledge of medical terminology (ICD-10/ICD-9 coding), CPT coding for procedures performed and utilization review processes.
• Ability to perform advanced common ER procedures like fracture reductions and splinting, suturing, lab and radiology interpretation, ACLS/PALS protocols, etc.
• Excellent patient assessment skills combined with physiology knowledge for accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
