Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling is required.
• New York State Social Work or Mental Health Counseling license required.
• At least two years post-graduate experience in medical/mental health settings.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to function in a fast-paced Emergency Department.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations in the Emergency Department.
• Perform psychiatric consultations and substance use disorder evaluations.
• Provide crisis intervention and psychoeducation.
• Coordinate aftercare planning and communicate with stakeholders.
• Maintain timely documentation in the EMR.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to determine level of care.
• Orient and participate in staff trainings and QA programs.
• Respect patient rights and ensure confidentiality.
