Job description

Job Title: Emergency Medicine - Ultrasound (Faculty Residency Program)

Location: Swedish Hospital, Chicago, IL

Hours: Full-time - 132 hours per month

Position Summary:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Emergency Medicine Ultrasound Faculty Member to join our team at Endeavor Health Swedish Hospital and Swedish Emergency Medicine Residency, located in the vibrant, multicultural community of Lincoln Square in Chicago, IL. This is an exciting opportunity to make an impact in a community-focused setting while contributing to both patient care and medical education.

What you will do:

  1. Educational Role: Five (5) hours a week on education and mentorship of residents in emergency ultrasound techniques.
    • Provide hands-on training and supervision.
    • Create effective curricula for students, residents, and attending physicians in POCUS in the ED and hospital.
    • Guide residents through clinical cases involving ultrasound, ensuring competence in both technical skills and clinical decision-making.
    • Participate in the clinical practice of emergency medicine, utilizing ultrasound as a diagnostic and procedural tool.
  2. Patient Care: Approximately twenty-five (25) hours a week providing exemplary patient care in a high-acuity setting.
    • Patient triage and assessment, diagnostic testing.
    • Perform medical procedures.
    • Patient education and communication.
    • Maintain accurate medical records.
    • Work an 8-hour shift on rotation.

What you will need:

  • MD or DO degree.
    • Completion of an accredited Emergency Medicine residency program.
    • Ultrasound fellowship training is preferred.
  • IL Medical License or pending.
  • Board certification or eligibility in Emergency Medicine.
  • Previous teaching or mentorship experience in a residency program is preferred.
  • Strong clinical skills and ability to perform in a high-pressure emergency setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to resident education and professional development.
  • Demonstrated competency in all eleven core point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) applications outlined in the ACEP 2008 guidelines.

  • Compensation range: $270,692 - $433,513. Placement within this range depends on factors including FTE, experience, certifications, degrees, subspecialties, projected volumes, and performance.
