Hennepin Healthcare offers opportunities for Physician Assistants to advance their education through our Emergency Medicine Postgraduate Training Program. These PAs will evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with various health conditions following departmental guidelines.
This intensive 13-month program combines didactic and clinical training in emergency medicine, preparing graduates to begin a career with essential skills to be competent emergency medicine physician assistants. In the ED, postgraduate PAs will work alongside established APPs and physician residents under the supervision of emergency medicine faculty physicians. They will also participate in off-service rotations to gain relevant specialty experience, practicing under supervision. The program includes monthly hands-on skills sessions in the simulation center and simulation case scenarios. By the end, participants will have obtained or recertified ACLS, PALS, and ATLS certifications.
Upon completion, trainees will receive a certificate of completion and may be considered for employment at Hennepin Healthcare if an opening exists. These positions are benefit-eligible, with salary and benefits comparable to PGY-1 physician residents.
