Job summary

Emerald Resource Group is seeking an Emergency Medicine Physician to stabilize and disposition high-acuity patients in busy emergency departments, ensuring safe throughput and clear plans for the next steps.

You will lead resuscitations, manage airway and critical cases, and provide decisive handoffs while mentoring APPs, nurses, and residents. Credentialing and placement support help you focus on clinical time and patient care.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Emergency Medicine Physician

Patients arrive without a schedule and leave with a plan. This role exists to make that interval safer, faster, and clearer-stabilizing the critically ill, deciding who can go home, and setting the next clinician up to succeed. You will own the room when minutes matter and leave the department stronger than you found it.

Performance Objectives

• Stabilize and disposition high-acuity patients so door-to-provider, critical-result, and admission or discharge times meet department targets.
• Lead resuscitations-airway, shock, trauma, stroke, and sepsis-until the patient is safe for the ICU, OR, or floor.
• Close every shift with accurate, defensible documentation and a verbal handoff that prevents missed results and bounce-backs.
• Cut avoidable return visits by matching discharge instructions, follow-up, and prescriptions to what the patient can actually do.
• Coach APPs, nurses, and residents in real time so the team's decisions stay consistent under surge.
• Surface one process failure per quarter-throughput, boarding, or safety-and help fix it with the medical director.

Environment & Resources

You practice in staffed emergency departments supported by nursing, APPs, respiratory therapy, and on-call specialists. Tools include a modern EHR, bedside ultrasound, and standard resuscitation equipment. You report to the site medical director. Credentialing, scheduling, and placement support sit with the recruiting team so clinical time stays clinical.

Essential Qualifications

• MD or DO and completion of an ACGME- or AOA-accredited emergency medicine residency.
• Board certification or active board eligibility in emergency medicine, with unrestricted state licensure (or eligibility) and DEA.
• Current ACLS, ATLS, and PALS, with recent independent management of airways, shock, and procedural sedation.
• Demonstrated ability to run a full ED shift-triage decisions, procedures, and clean dispositions-without constant backup.
• Clear communication with patients, families, and consultants under time pressure.
