Job summary

The VA Northern California Health Care System in Sacramento seeks an Emergency Medicine Physician to join the Sacramento VA Medical Center (Mather). You will provide high-acuity care to adult patients in a modern ED with support from multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• MD/DO degree.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine.
• Active, unrestricted U.S. medical license.
• Strong emergency medicine clinical skills and commitment to Veteran care.

Responsibilities

• Provide immediate evaluation, stabilization, and management of high-acuity adult patients.
• Perform rapid diagnostics and interventions using bedside ultrasound, EKG interpretation, point-of-care testing, advanced airway techniques, and coordination of emergent imaging.
• Determine safe patient disposition—admission, transfer, or discharge—in collaboration with inpatient teams and specialty services.
• Document in the VA's electronic health record and participate in FPPE/OPPE, credentialing, QI, peer review, and ED process-improvement initiatives.
