Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient evaluations, including history and physical exams.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests (labs, imaging, EKGs).
• Develop and implement treatment plans for acute/urgent conditions.
• Manage both adult and pediatric ED/UCC presentations.
• Perform procedures within scope (laceration repair, splinting, wound care, I&D).
• Collaborate with ED physicians, nurses, and staff.
• Ensure accurate documentation in the EMR and maintain throughput.

Delphi Healthcare is actively seeking an experienced Emergency Department Advanced Practice Provider (Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner) for a locum tenens ED/UCC assignment at a hospital-based emergency department in New York State.

This is a high-acuity, fast-paced clinical environment ideal for an APP with prior Emergency Medicine experience who is confident managing both adult and pediatric patients independently while working closely with supervising physicians and the ED care team.

Position Overview

• Role: Emergency Department / Urgent Care APP (PA or NP)
• Location: Hospital-based ED New York State
• Type: Locum Tenens (ED/UCC coverage)
• Pay Rate: $100 $120 per hour (DOE)
• Start: ASAP (flexible scheduling options available)

Clinical Responsibilities

• Performing comprehensive patient evaluations including history, physical exams, and medical decision-making
• Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests (labs, imaging, EKGs)
• Developing and implementing treatment plans for a wide range of acute and urgent conditions
• Managing both adult and pediatric emergency/UCC presentations
• Performing selected procedures within scope of practice and privileging (e.g., laceration repair, splinting, wound care, I&D, etc.)
• Collaborating closely with Emergency Medicine physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff
• Ensuring accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)
• Participating in efficient patient flow and maintaining departmental throughput standards

Required Qualifications

• Active New York State Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) license
• Prior Emergency Department or Urgent Care experience strongly preferred
• Current ACLS and BLS certification required
• PALS preferred (or willingness to obtain)
• Strong clinical judgment and ability to work independently in a fast-paced setting
