Job summary

Posterity Group LLC is seeking Emergency Medicine Physicians to staff the VA Central California Health Care System (VACCHCS). The EM physicians will perform assessments, manage ED care, stabilize patients, and coordinate with consultants to optimize outcomes.

Requirements include MD or DO, a valid medical license, and a valid BLS certification, with 3–5 years of ED experience. Attending oversight of residents and involvement in ED performance measures are also expected.

• 3–5 years of Emergency Medicine experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Perform ED assessments and examinations for all presenting patients
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests for ED evaluation
• Stabilize critically ill or injured patients
• Provide Attending oversight to residents, mid-levels, and students
• Admit or discharge patients from the ED with appropriate follow-up
• Discuss treatment plans with patients/families
• Perform medications reconciliation at discharge
• Participate in ED QA, chart reviews, and ED performance measures
• Coordinate patient care with consultants as appropriate
• Direct patient care to prevent death or disability in ED and out-of-hospital setting
• Support safety, occupational health, and fire protection programs per standards
• Assess, diagnose, and treat ED patients across a broad spectrum of conditions
• Perform ED procedures including airway management, intubation, ventilation, sedation, EKG, CPR, vascular access, imaging, wound care, and core emergency procedures

Posterity Group LLC is a veteran owned, service-disabled small business, headquartered in Rockville, MD, that specializes in federal government contracting and staffing. We are tasked with staffing the VA Central California Health Care System (VACCHCS) with Emergency Medicine Physicians. The EM Physicians are expected to do the following:

Duties for this position include, but are not limited to the following:

• Perform assessments/examinations on encounters with all presenting patients.
• Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic tests necessary to complete the ED evaluation.
• Stabilize all critically ill or injured patients.
• Provide Attending Physician oversight to residents, mid-level providers, and students.
• Admit patients to the hospital or discharge them from the ED with appropriate follow-up.
• Discuss treatment plan with patient and or family/caregiver.
• Perform medication reconciliation with all discharged patients.
• Participate in Quality Assurance, chart reviews, and support applicable ED performance measures.
• Coordinate patient care with consultants as deemed appropriate.
• Direct patient care focused on the immediate decision making and action necessary to prevent death or any further disability both in the ED and the out-of-hospital setting by interacting with emergency medical technicians and in the emergency department.
• Emergency Department physician will support the safety, occupational health, and fire protection program by the application of approved standards, regulations, practices, and work methods.
• Asses, evaluate, diagnose, and provide initial treatment to patients who present in the Emergency Department with any symptom, illness, injury, or condition; to provide services necessary to ameliorate minor illnesses or injuries and stabilize patients with major illnesses or injuries; and to assess all patients to determine whether additional care is necessary.
• Perform procedures related to Emergency Department such as but not limited to: basic and advanced airway management, rapid sequence intubation, management of mechanical ventilation, administration of moderate sedation, EKG interpretation, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, cardioversion, defibrillation, venous central line placement, intraosseous access, peripheral arterial puncture for ABGs, NGT placement, gastric lavage, gastrostomy and tracheostomy tube replacement, reduction and immobilization of fractures and dislocations, wound care and closure (suture), abscess incision/drainage, lumbar puncture, knee arthrocentesis, anterior nasal packing, peripheral vein catheterization, vaginal pelvic exam and Foley Bladder Catheterization. Also, emergency surgical procedures indicated by emergency medical conditions or injuries such as emergent cricothyrotomy, and chest tube placement.

Requirements

• Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine.
