Job summary

Long Island Community Hospital is seeking a Physician Assistant for a Per Diem Medical Staff Services role. You will perform initial assessments, order and interpret tests, document care, formulate diagnoses, and collaborate with physicians to manage patient care across the ED and hospital settings.

You must possess NYS PA licensure, NCCPA certification, and current BLS/ACLS/PALS/NRP. Strong teamwork and precision in documentation are essential to deliver high-quality care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a PA program accredited by ARC-PA.
• Current NCCPA certification.
• Current New York State license as Registered Physician Assistant.
• Current BLS & ACLS documentation.
• Current Pediatric Life Support (PALS).
• Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) documentation.

Responsibilities

• Introduces/identifies self as a physician assistant.
• Performs initial assessment/history and physical examination.
• Orders and interprets tests/results based on patient need.
• Documents care in the chart in accordance with Hospital policy & procedure.
• Formulates diagnoses and treatment plan.
• Consults with physician when required based on patient's condition.
• Reassesses patients and documents accordingly.
• Verbal/telephone orders signed, dated, and timed by end of shift.
• Demonstrates service excellence and positive communication with patients and staff.
