Society of Emergency Medicine PAs (SEMPA) invites applications for an Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant in the Birmingham, Alabama area. The position offers independent, physician-owned, democratic practice with two sites serving West Jefferson County and Hoover, featuring a brand-new hospital and high-volume ED operations.

Compensation ranges from $70 to $90 per hour for full-time shifts, with 9- and 12-hour schedules, strong team support, and a suite of benefits including CME allowance,

Responsibilities

• Shift lengths: 12 hours at FSED (9a-9p or Noon-Midnight), 9-Hours at Hospital (8a-5p or 5p-2a)
• Patient volume: 2.0-2.5 PPH solo, or 3.0-4.0 PPH with APP support
• Coverage model: Co-staffed with 8 APPs, no scribes — transitioning to AI ambient documentation
• EHR: Meditech today, with an Epic transition planned for 2027
