Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health in New Jersey seeks a Nurse Practitioner to join Emergency Medicine teams providing primary care in ED and inpatient settings with focus on early detection and prevention of diseases.

The NP will perform histories and exams, order labs/imaging, develop treatment plans, coordinate care, educate patients, and ensure thorough charting. Licensure and NP certs in NJ with BLS/ACLS are required; scheduling includes days, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Nursing required.
• NP Certification required.
• Registered Nurse with NJ license; CDS and DEA.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• Prior nursing experience in clinical settings preferred.
• Flexible scheduling including extended hours, weekdays, nights, weekends, holidays.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and record patient history.
• Perform physical exams and medical screening.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests.
• Develop and initiate treatment plans including medications.
• Coordinate care with health-care team and refer to specialists as needed.
• Educate patients about health issues and prevention strategies.
• Maintain thorough and timely charting.
• Manage patient flow in ED or inpatient unit.
• Perform physician-approved procedures.
• Participate in staff meetings and risk management.
