Job summary

UNC Health is seeking a Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant to join the FP Emergency Medicine team in Chapel Hill. The APP works within the interdisciplinary care model under a supervising physician to deliver high-quality, cost-effective patient care.

The role emphasizes education, leadership, and ongoing program improvements in a 40-hour work week onsite. The position requires completion of an accredited APRN/PA program, North Carolina licensure, and DEA, with no prior experience required.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited graduate-level Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) program.
• Licensed as an Advanced Practice Provider in North Carolina.
• DEA registration and board certification as required.

Responsibilities

• Clinical: obtain history, perform exams, interpret tests, develop diagnoses, and create treatment plans.
• Education: educate patients and families about conditions and follow-up.
• Leadership: instruct and mentor physicians, housestaff, and students; participate in outreach programs.
• Professional: communicate respectfully with patients and staff and respond to needs.
• Quality/Research: engage in quality improvement and update protocols based on evidence.
