Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Currently licensed as an advanced practice nurse in Georgia by the Georgia Board of Nursing and ANCC certification or equivalent; or certified as a Physician's Assistant by NCCPA.
  • Georgia license to practice as an advanced professional in nursing or as a PA.
  • May require at least one year of direct experience in high acuity clinical specialties.
  • PALS, BLS, or ACLS may be required in some areas.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in evaluation and treatment of patients under physician supervision.
  • Documents delivery of care in patient records and maintains accurate charts.
  • Conducts patient interviews and documents histories and health status.
  • Performs physical examinations and specialized procedures under physician direction.
  • Orders, schedules and/or performs laboratory tests and diagnostics.
  • Communicates procedures, preparations and effects to patients.
  • Collaborates with physicians to arrange referrals and consultations.
  • Educates patients on health habits, home care and follow-up needs.
  • Participates in professional development and organizational committees.
  • Maintains up-to-date patient records and participates in data collection for quality improvements.

Education

Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
Georgia state nursing license
ANCC Nurse Practitioner certification or equivalent
Physician Assistant certification (NCCPA) and Georgia state PA license
