Job summary

Mayo Clinic Rochester seeks a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the Emergency Medicine department. The role supports a new Emergency Department Observation Unit (EDOU) with 24/7/365 coverage, providing advanced assessment, diagnoses, orders, tests, and patient education under physician supervision.

The ideal candidate will have Minnesota licensure (RN/APRN), PA certification or FNP/ENP, and relevant ED experience; DEA registration and ATLS/BLS/ACLS/PALS are required.

Qualifications

• Masters-prepared NP with Minnesota RN and APRN license and FNP/ENP certification.
• PA must be graduate of accredited PA program with PA certification (NCCPA) and Minnesota State Board registration.
• DEA registration required. BLS, ACLS, PALS, and ATLS required.
• Two years as an experienced NP or PA in Emergency Medicine, observation medicine, or hospital medicine preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide independent NP/PA evaluations, diagnoses, ordering, tests, prescriptions, and patient education.
• Manage 24/7/365 EDOU coverage and timely disposition within 24 hours.
• Perform procedures including laceration repair, I&D, lumbar puncture, paracentesis, and ultrasound-guided access.
• Collaborate with physicians and other clinicians; escalate when needed.
