Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center & Wake Forest University School of Medicine Charlotte invites outstanding emergency physicians to join our academic department as a full-time Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor on a non-tenure-track appointment. The role blends clinical care, education, and scholarly activity across two premier Level I trauma centers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and participate in clinical care within two Level I trauma centers.
  • Mentor and teach residents, fellows and medical students; contribute to scholarly activity.
  • Develop and contribute to curriculum, educational innovation, and research initiatives.
  • Engage in multidisciplinary collaboration across EMS, ultrasound, toxicology, pediatric EM, and global EM.

The Department of Emergency Medicine at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center and Wake Forest University School of Medicine Charlotte invites applications from outstanding emergency physicians seeking a rewarding academic career in a department committed to excellence in patient care, education, research, and service. The successful candidate will join our faculty as a full-time Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor on a non-tenure-track appointment, with academic rank commensurate with experience and accomplishments.

Academic Opportunities

Our educators mentor and teach residents, fellows, medical students, and international trainees while contributing to scholarly activity, curriculum development, and educational innovation.

Our department sponsors fellowship programs in multiple disciplines, creating opportunities for collaboration across a broad range of academic interests, including EMS, ultrasound, toxicology, pediatric emergency medicine, operational medicine, disaster medicine, and global emergency medicine

Clinical Practice

Faculty members serve as leaders of multidisciplinary emergency care teams and practice in two of the region's premier emergency departments: Carolinas Medical Center and Levine Children's Hospital. Together, these academic, tertiary care Level I trauma centers care for more than 100,000 patients annually and provide exposure to the full spectrum of complex pathology and advanced emergency care.

Qualifications

Candidates must possess an MD or DO degree (or equivalent international degree), be board certified or board eligible in emergency medicine, and be eligible for medical licensure in North Carolina.
