Job summary

ChristianaCare's Newark Campus seeks an Emergency Medicine Clinical Pharmacy Specialist for a full-time midnight shift (7 On/7 Off). Hours are 8:00 pm–8:00 am Mon–Sat and 8:00 pm–4:00 am Sun, serving ED trauma, stroke, and critical care with pharmacist-led care.

You will collaborate with clinicians, assess therapies, educate staff, and help develop ED drug protocols and formulary reviews. Requires PharmD, ASHP PGY1, PGY2 EM, and Delaware licensure.

Qualifications

• PharmD from ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy required.
• ASHP-accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency required.
• ASHP-accredited PGY2 Pharmacy Residency (Emergency Medicine) required.
• Board Certification (BCEMP) within 2 years of hire.
• Current licensure or eligibility in Delaware.

Responsibilities

• Serve as ED pharmacy resource for trauma, stroke, and critical care.
• Discuss pharmacotherapy with patients and families to aid decisions.
• Provide drug therapy education to ED team members.
• Review med history and maintain meds during acute illness.
• Assist with medication reconciliation at admission, transfer, or discharge.
• Evaluate drug therapy for indication, dose, interactions, allergies, adverse events.
• Conduct stewardship activities for anti-infectives and high-risk meds.
• Convert/manage meds per P&T policy (IV to PO, renal dosing).
• Investigate missing dose issues in the ED when needed.
• Evaluate necessary lab tests to monitor therapy.
• Develop ED-focused drug therapy protocols and order sets.
• Present monographs and formulary reviews to committees as needed.
• Participate in ADE reporting and investigational drug programs; mentor students/residents.
