Job description

Academic Emergency Medicine Nocturnist Opportunity

The Department of Emergency Medicine at the Yale University School of Medicine is seeking faculty interested in joining a nationally leading Department of Academic Emergency Medicine as a nocturnist across our three campuses that care for nearly 200,000 patient visits every year. The position is at the Assistant/Associate Professor level, rank and track commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Our department offers the opportunity to practice in a comprehensive setting with expertise and opportunities across the breadth of our specialty including ultrasound, global health, emergency medical services, toxicology, wilderness, and simulation. Clinical opportunities include a range of acuity from our primary academic campus, a Level 1 trauma and comprehensive stroke care center, to community and freestanding EDs as well as the opportunity to care for a range of clinical acuity from critical care to observation medicine.

We offer an attractive nocturnist package offering unique flexibilities in scheduling, additional compensation, and an opportunity to continue engagement in academic missions of the department. Nocturnist practitioners will appreciate multiple emergency physician coverage at night, access to 24/7 specialist coverage, and opportunities to teach learners from our four-year EM residency of nearly 80 residents, an advanced PA training program, and a world-class medical-school. We also offer an extensive faculty development programs for junior and more senior faculty to help support career longevity and wellness.

Candidates will enter at the Assistant/Associate level, commensurate with experience and credentials. Candidates must be residency-trained and board-certified or board-eligible in emergency medicine.
