Job summary

US Acute Care Solutions (USACS) seeks an experienced Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our Kerrville, Texas team. You will work alongside physicians and APPs to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care in a busy rural ED with robust support from specialty services.

This role emphasizes ED coverage, collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, and involvement in stroke patient care and transfer decisions.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of ED experience.
• Stroke-certified; ability to participate in acute stroke transfer decisions.
• Board certification in emergency medicine or active PA/NP licensure with ED experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide ED coverage as part of an interdisciplinary team.
• Collaborate with physicians and APP leadership to ensure quality patient care.
• Participate in stroke patient evaluation, treatment, and transfer planning.

• Serves a primary service area of 45,000+ people
• Hospitalists admit 85% of patients from the Emergency Department
• Stroke patients who receive fibrinolytic or who meet criteria for arterial thrombectomy are transferred to San Antonio after consultation with a Tele-Neurologist
• Specialty backup includes 24/7 cardiology (including cath lab and most cardiologists do PE thrombectomies), general surgery, ortho, and OB/GYN
• Interventional radiology availabe during the week
• Urology coverage 50% of the time

• Staffing Model:
• 10-hour shifts
• 3 Physician shifts per day (total 30 hours)
• 3 APP shifts per day (total 30 hours)
• Shifts will flex 1-2 hours up or down based on volumes
• EMR: Meditech
• BC (or BE) in Emergency Medicine (preferred) or BC in FP/IM with a minimum of five years of ED experience
• Stroke certified; however, still transfer patients who require lytics and/or arterial thrombectomy
• Primary Stroke Center certification expected by end of 2025
