Job summary

Assist Ambulance is seeking Emergency Medical Technicians certified in New York State to join our Brooklyn (or Bronx) base, full-time or part-time. The team provides BLS/ALS transport across NYC with a focus on patient care and safety.

Base pay starts at $20.50–$25.00/hr, with weekly pay, raises, and benefits including health insurance, paid training, and overtime opportunities. Applicants must complete in-person assessments and pass a drug screen.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Active NY EMT-B card required.
• Drivers hired as EMTs must be at least 20 with 1 year driving experience in NYC.
• Valid NY D Class license with no more than 3 major moving violations in 3 years.
• Physically fit to lift 125 lbs and pass a lifting assessment.
• Must obtain 19A physical clearance and negative PPD test.
• Must pass a 10 panel drug screen.
• Commit to at least two 8-hour shifts weekly (steady schedule).
• Per diem not available; part-time or full-time steady scheduling only.
• Ability to work well under extreme duress and have good people skills.
• Criminal history reviewed under NYC Fair Chance Act.

Job description

Assist Ambulance is looking for Emergency Medical Technicians certified in New York State to join us full-time and part-time at our Brooklyn (or Bronx) base! Assist is a New York City EMS agency offering a full range of BLS and ALS emergency medical and transportation services throughout the five boroughs. Assist has a proud 30 year history of providing emergency medical services to the diverse and vibrant communities of NYC. Assist Ambulance offers Advanced Life Support and Basic Life Support via emergency and non-emergency ambulance transports for various hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, doctor's offices, and community-based organizations. Emergency Medical Technicians are required to follow guidelines from the Department of Health - Bureau of EMS and Trauma Systems, and Regional Emergency Medical Services Council of NYC protocols for Basic Life Support.

Job Requirements:

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Must have an active NY State EMT-B card - NREMT card is not accepted alone
• EMTs hired as drivers must be at least 20 years old with 1 years driving experience in New York City
• Must have a valid New York State D Class driver’s license with no more than 3 major moving violations in the past three years
  • DJ licenses / Driver's permits are not accepted
• Must be physically fit to lift 125 lbs. in accordance with the NYS DOH and pass a lifting assessment
• Must be able to get 19A physical clearance and negative PPD test (vouchers provided)
• Must be able to pass a 10 panel drug screening
• Must be able to commit to at least two 8-hour shifts per week that are the same days every week (steady shifts)
  • Per diem is not available at this time, only part time or full time steady scheduling
• Must be good with people and able to act responsibly under extreme duress
• Applicants' criminal history will be considered consistent with the requirements of the New York City Fair Chance Act
• Must be able to attend three days of in-person pre-hire assessments to move forward to employment with driving assessments on a separate date (if eligible to drive)
  

Job Attributes:

• Base pay starting at $20.50 to $25.00/hr based on interview and experience
• Weekly Payday with a .50 cent raise after 90 days for drivers, and 5% standard annual raises for all EMTs
