Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - Harrison Crossing Free Standing Emergency - Full Time Nights

Job Summary
This role involves providing clinical and technical support, assisting nurses and medical staff, and performing clerical and communication duties to ensure efficient department operations. Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Perform according to the expectations and standards set by the position description.
- Collaborate effectively with MWHC/ED staff, nursing, and physicians, both verbally and through documentation.
- Assist nurses in collecting patient data and specimens.
- Support medical staff by performing designated patient care procedures.
- Participate in infection control and performance improvement initiatives.
- Assist with regulatory readiness and risk management plans.
- Demonstrate effective communication, customer service, and team-building skills.
- Maintain licensure and certifications required for the position.
- Utilize hospital information systems to perform clerical responsibilities.
- Facilitate communication among diagnostic/testing areas, patients, and families.
- Respond to patient call lights and requests promptly.
- Serve as a unit receptionist, coordinating with physicians and staff.
- Maintain a safe and orderly environment and coordinate equipment needs.
- Assist with cleaning and maintaining equipment, and report malfunctions.
- Initiate emergency procedures when necessary.
- Perform duties of other care team members as needed.
- Perform communication coordination duties as required.
- Perform venipuncture, start IVs, and collect specimens with proper labeling and transport.
- Apply cardiac monitors, perform 12-lead EKGs, and set up sterile trays for procedures.
- Insert Foley catheters and document intake/output.
- Perform splinting and apply orthopedic adjuncts per physician orders.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Current Virginia State EMT Certification and/or National Registry required.
- AHA CPR certification required.
- Preferred: One year of EMT, military corpsman, or clinical experience.
- Preferred: AHA ACLS and PALS certifications.
