The City of Saint Paul is seeking an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) to provide essential medical services and support during emergencies. The role involves responding to emergency calls, providing patient care, and working as part of the Fire Department's Emergency Medical Service. This position offers competitive pay, benefits, and a pathway to becoming a firefighter after two years of service.

As a Saint Paul Fire Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), you will be responsible for:
Information Specific to this Position:
EMT's will work 8-12 hour rotating shifts including days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Employees also receive a 6.25% night differential rate for any hours worked between 6 PM and 6 AM. EMT's will go through a 2 week classroom academy, 1 week of ALS ride alongs, and 4-6 weeks on the job training. Starting rate is negotiable based on experience. Paramedics are strongly encouraged to apply.

The Qualifications Rating is an assessment of your completed application and answers to the Supplemental Questionnaire. GENERAL INFORMATION:
Open Job Posting: This posting is open to anyone who meets the position requirements.
Eligible Lists: Eligible lists are typically created from a pass/fail assessment. Those who pass the assessment will be placed on an eligible list for approximately six months. Hiring Managers may interview/hire anyone from the list.
Final Selection Process: You must receive a score of 75% or higher to pass the assessment and be considered for the position. Those who pass will be placed on an eligible list and all will be notified of their status. A Hiring Manager will consider those applicants eligible for hire. You will be notified if you are invited to participate in the final selection process which may include an interview, job simulation, work sample submission, or other evaluation method.
