Job summary

UnityPoint Health in Des Moines, IA is seeking an EMT to join our interdisciplinary team. You will assess, treat, and transfer patients in accordance with Iowa EMS scope and hospital policies while providing reassurance to families during critical moments.

This role requires EMT certification, a valid Iowa driver's license, and Basic Life Support. The schedule includes weekday days and overnights, with opportunities to advance within our supportive Total Rewards program.

Qualifications

• EMT Certification is required.
• 1 year EMT experience preferred.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.
• Valid Iowa Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Provides non-emergent patient care transfers.
• Reports observations and medical care with documentation.
• Assists in hospital ED and other duties as assigned.
• Operates at the level of certification with director approval (EMT/Paramedic).
• Participates in QA/QI processes by reviewing patient care reports.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

Provides non-emergent patient care transfers

Reports, verbally and in writing, observations and medical care of the patient. Provides accurate medical documentation of all emergency medical treatment provided.

May be assigned various administrative and/or hospital duties which may include, but is not limited to: inventory and ordering supplies, squad readiness checks/testing’s and inventories; verifying that ambulance and its contents are in proper working condition; maintain familiarity with specialized equipment, etc.

Participates in Quality Assurance/Quality Initiative processes by properly reviewing patient care reports as set forth by department standards.

Assists in providing assistance in the hospital emergency department

Operates at level of certification as allowed by protocol with medical director approval (EMT/Paramedic).

Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:

At least 1 year experience as EMT preferred

License(s)/Certification(s):

Certification as an EMT Required.

Basic Life Support Certification Healthcare Provider Level.

Valid Iowa Driver’s License.
