Job summary

Texas Children’s Hospital The Woodlands is seeking a part-time Emergency Medical Technician for the day shift in the fast-paced Emergency Center. You will provide patient care and excellent customer service under the guidance of the Registered Nurse with direct care duties.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and EMT certification (Texas DHS). Experience is preferred. The team emphasizes safety, rapid response, and collaboration with health care staff to support patient care and flow.

Qualifications

• EMT certification is required by Texas DHS.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Preferred: 1 year EMT experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist with suturing, spinal immobilization, obtaining specimens, airway procedures, postmortem care, and transport
• Provides one-to-one observation for psychiatric emergencies, assists with restraints per hospital policy
• Collaborates with Emergency Center staff to ensure efficient patient flow
• Prioritizes delegated tasks and workload with licensed personnel
• Turns over the exam room for next patient visit, using infection control procedures
• Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills with patients, families, visitors, peers, and health care team
• Maintains ongoing communication with health care team to enhance the patient’s plan of care
• Supports and maintains established supply levels

Responsibilities

As part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace, all successful candidates will be required to undergo respiratory fit testing in compliance with occupational health and safety standards.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with suturing, spinal immobilization, obtaining specimens, airway procedures, postmortem care, and transport
• Provides one-to-one observation for psychiatric emergencies, assists with (does not apply) restraints per hospital policy
• Collaborates with Emergency Center staff to ensure efficient patient flow
• Collaborates with multiple licensed personnel and is able to prioritize delegated tasks and workload
• Turns over the exam room for next patient visit, utilizing appropriate infection control procedures
• Demonstrates positive and effective interpersonal skills when dealing with patients/families, visitors, peers, and other health care team members
• Ensures and participates in ongoing communication with other health care team members to enhance the patient’s plan of care
• Supports and maintains established supply levels

Qualifications

Required:

• High school diploma or GED required
• EMT, EMT-A, EMT-B, EMT-I, EMT-P or LIC PAR certification from the Texas Department of State Health Services required

Preferred:

• 1-year Experience As An EMT Preferred
