Job summary

HealthTeam Critical Care Transport, LLC. is the dedicated EMS partner delivering urgent care and interfacility transport in our region. We seek an EMT to provide high‑quality, compliant pre-hospital care and transport under varied conditions across West Virginia.

The role requires completion of an approved EMT program, WV EMT certification, and a valid driver's license. You will operate emergency vehicles, maintain records, and collaborate with leaders to ensure patient safety and service

Qualifications

• Completion of an approved Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) training program.
• Active, Non-Restricted EMT Certificate in West Virginia.
• Driver’s License in good standing and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record history.
• NIMS Training IS 100, 200, 700, 800 and Hazardous Materials.

Responsibilities

• Attend pre-mission briefings and debriefings.
• Act on safety concerns and hazardous conditions.
• Report safety concerns promptly to leadership.
• Drive and operate emergency vehicles at safe speeds to locations.
• Maintain vehicles and equipment in good working order.
• Receive requests for EMS via radio and dispatch systems.
• Maintain accurate records of equipment and personnel dispatched.
• Liaise with peers and professionals to ensure quality care and operations.
• Follow applicable laws, regulations and standards.
• Maintain currency on licenses and continuing education programs.

HealthTeam Critical Care Transport, LLC. is a not-for-profit shared service of Cabell Huntington Hospital/Marshall Health Network, Charleston Area Medical Center/Vandalia Health, and WVU Medicine established to ensure the safe and reliable transport of patients.

As the sole nationally accredited ambulance service in West Virginia, our program is setting the standard for the delivery of interfacility patient care across our region. Our fleet is comprised of 42 ambulances that serve our eight base locations across West Virginia.

Position Overview:

The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) performs duties associated with providing emergency medical care to the ill and injured in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations and policies.

Environmental and Mechanical Considerations:

The Emergency Medical Technician delivers transport services under the stresses of ground transport, with frequent exposure to blood/body fluids, in sometimes hazardous conditions, near moving mechanical parts and within high noise environments. Training and resources are available to mitigate risk as appropriate, but the responsibility to utilize those devices falls to the individual.

Completion of an approved Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) training program

Preferred Previous Experience:

One year of experience as an EMT in a pre-hospital environment.

Required Certifications and/or Registrations:

Post-Hire Certifications and/or Registrations:

Satisfactory completion of the HealthTeam Critical Care Transport Team Member Orientation Program

Physical Demands:

• Ability to lift, push, pull and transfer patients of high weights with limited resources
• Ability to twist upperbody while moving patients and/or equipment
• Ability to stand, walk, climb, balance, reach, stoop, bend, crawl and crouch for extended time periods
• Ability to adapt to rapidly changing and potentially extreme environmental conditions
• Ability to smell and identify odors
• Ability to use close, distant and peripheral vision, depth perception, and visual focus
• Ability to clearly hear and interpret voice, two-way radio and telephone communication
• Ability to successfully complete post-offer and recurrent physical examination
• Ability to successfully complete post-offer and recurrent physical agility test

Post-Hire/On-Going Personal Assessments:

• Safety assessment
• Randomized annual motor vehicle operator report
• Randomized drug and alcohol usage testing
• Annual clinical competency evaluation

Position Specific Accountabilities:

• Attends and actively participates in pre-mission briefings and debriefings.
• I immediately acts on safety concerns and hazardous conditions.
• In a timely manner, reportssafety concerns and hazardous conditions.
• Promptly responds to instructions from a dispatcher and drives and operates specially equipped emergency vehicles to specified locations at a safe and controlled speed, in accordance with federal, state, local laws, regulations, and standards.
• Assures vehicles are in good working condition at all times, are properly maintained and stocked, have all necessary equipment in good working order at all times.
• Cleans, organizes and restocks vehicles in a ready condition after each transport.
• Receives requests for emergency and non-emergency ambulance service and other duties related to communication via two-way radio and other communication devices
• Maintains accurate records of ambulance equipment and other emergency equipment and/or personnel dispatched to each emergency and non-emergency request and other operation and administrative data as required to maintain the operational continuity of the organization and as directed by leaders
• Effective liaison with peers and other professionals to ensure quality delivery of care and operations
• Follows standards developed by appropriate governmental bodies
• Maintains currency on all required licenses, certifications and continuing education programs.
• Completes all requiredclinical, operational and performance improvement documentation.
• Willingness to work beyond the end of scheduled shift, on unscheduled days and at any base location as required allowing for service availability.
• Performs other duties as assigned by members of the HealthTeam Critical Care Transport land HealthNet Aeromedical Services leadership teams.
