Job summary

Martin County Hospital District in Stanton, Texas is seeking an EMT to respond to out‑of‑hospital emergencies and support MCHD EMS operations across the county.

You must hold a current Texas DSHS EMT certification or license and complete AHA‑approved BLS training on hire; 1 year of 911 experience is preferred. Strong communication and the ability to operate radios and electronic patient care records are essential.

Qualifications

Job description

History

Martin County Hospital District (MCHD) was organized in 1967 and has boundaries coterminous with Martin County, Texas. It is located in the heart of West Texas. Opened in 1949, the hospital was originally located near downtown Stanton. This facility served the community well for many years, but was replaced with a state of the art 18‑bed facility in 2012. The new facility is located on I‑20, and has been designated as a Critical Access Hospital.

Summary Of Responsibilities

The EMT is a healthcare professional whose primary responsibilities include responding to out‑of‑hospital emergencies. At MCHD EMS we run all Martin County 911 calls and transfers for MCHD. The EMT must remain focused on duty and committed to quality patient care, maintaining a calm professional demeanor in hostile, hazardous environments with patient care as a top priority. The EMT must function independently once credentialed by the EMS Medical Director, providing exceptional pre‑hospital clinical medicine based on the MCHD EMS scope of care, policies, procedures and protocols. The EMT must be able to utilize electronic communication including portable and mobile radios, electronic patient care records, and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Once cleared to independent duty, field EMTs are required to take control of the scene, lead coworkers and first responders, while managing medical and trauma patients on BLS trucks. The EMT must be able to operate all basic EMS equipment, ensuring ambulances are stocked, clean and ready to respond to all calls for service.

Requirements
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED, preferred.
  • Successfully completed EMS Orientation training.
Licenses / Certificates
  • Must have a current Texas DSHS certification or license.
  • Successful completion of AHA‑approved courses in BLS upon hire.
  • Clear current Texas driver’s license.
Experience
  • 1 year 911 experience preferred.
