Job summary

Murray-Calloway County Hospital seeks a certified Emergency Medical Technician for a PRN (as needed) position. This position has rotating shifts.

The EMT is responsible for pre-hospital treatment and transport of the sick or injured of all age groups, making appropriate decisions on scene and in the ambulance. High school diploma or GED and KY EMT certification required; prior EMT experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• EMT Certification for State of KY is required.
• Previous experience as an EMT is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide pre-hospital treatment and transport for sick or injured of all ages.
• Assess patient and situation to determine appropriate actions and transport decisions.
• Use equipment properly to avoid patient harm and equipment damage.

Job Description

The EMT is responsible for the pre-hospital treatment and transport of the sick or injured of all age groups. Uses appropriate skills and knowledge on the scene and in the ambulance to best protect and treat the patient. Calmly makes appropriate decisions in all situations as to treatment, transportation and extrication. Understands limitations and stays within those limitations when treating or discussing treatment of his/her patient. Uses equipment assigned to incumbent appropriately so as tonot injure patient or abuse equipment. Possess the ability to assess the patient and situation so as to determine actions needed.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED
• EMT Certification for State of KY
• Previous experience as an EMT preferred.

• Physical Exam
• Respirator Fit
