Job description

Full-time position available with the Office of the City Manager, Office of Emergency Management located at 414 E. 12th St.

Salary Range: $5,173-$7,759/month

Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Responsibilities
  1. Lead, manage, and perform work engaged in fiber optic cable operations, maintenance, and design.
  2. Coordinate with City management, Police, Fire Department, outside agencies, and City partners.
  3. Manage large enterprise-wide projects, including resource allocation.
  4. Provide expert analysis of processes and troubleshooting.
  5. Develop specifications, programs, and documentation standards.
  6. Oversee daily operations, including report preparation, presentations, grant applications, and grant management.
  7. Monitor the fiber network to ensure optimal performance with end users.
  8. Assist with maintenance of fiber optic cable equipment and supplies.
  9. Coordinate financial recovery post-incident.
  10. Liaise with government, community groups, schools, and City partners.
  11. Develop and oversee a City-wide maintenance contract.
  12. Design system expansion plans.
  13. Lead process and quality improvement initiatives.
  14. Define customer requirements and analyze functions and outputs.
  15. Gather customer feedback and communicate effectively; develop escalation procedures.
  16. Respond to fiber cuts/breaks, coordinate repairs, and restore connectivity.
  17. Participate in the City Wide Fiber Committee meetings.
  18. Assist with maintenance and continuity of the City's Security Camera System.
Qualifications

REQUIRES high school graduation plus:

  • 9 years of experience in engineering drawing, mapping, GIS, CADD, engineering, land survey, or construction inspection, or an acceptable combination of education and experience; OR
  • 7 years of experience in the same fields plus possession of a Level II Engineering Technology Certification in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical discipline or a Land Surveyor in Training license; OR
  • Possession of Level IV Certification as Engineering Technician (ET) or a Registered Land Surveyor's License.

Must possess a valid driver's license, pass a drug screen, and a physical exam. Additional details on education and experience requirements are provided in the original description.
