Job summary

UAB Medicine Gardendale is seeking a laboratory professional to join the freestanding ED team. You will perform duties related to preparation, distribution, cataloging, and storage of lab specimens for testing in a fast-paced emergency setting.

The role requires accuracy, efficiency, and collaboration with emergency clinicians, with pay range $15.00–$22.75 per hour and benefits including education assistance and paid time off.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• BLS may be required or obtained within 30 days of employment.
• Experience in a laboratory or emergency department is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Handle preparation, distribution, cataloging, and storage of lab specimens for testing.
• Adhere to specimen identification policies and quality controls.
• Use lab and hospital information systems; provide general administrative support to the laboratory staff.
