Job summary

Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists – NASA Parkway in Webster, TX is seeking a Per Diem Emergency & ICU Veterinary Technician. Licensed or experienced techs earn $22–$30/hr, with non-credentialed techs at $18–$28/hr. Weekend differential of $3/hr and overnight differential of $2/hr are offered.

This role supports emergency care, anesthesia, lab work, and hospital patient management. Per diem shifts include day, swing, and overnight coverage to meet patient needs.

Qualifications

• Licensed Veterinary Technicians with at least 2 years of experience.
• Emergency and Critical Care experience preferred.
• Fluent English required.
• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate care to hospitalized and emergency patients.
• Assist veterinarians with exams, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures.
• Perform restraint, venipuncture, catheter placement, radiographs, lab work, and medication administration.
• Prepare and administer treatments per orders and protocols.
• Collaborate across departments for coordinated patient care.
• Respond to STAT calls and follow emergency protocols.
• Communicate with clients with empathy and clarity.
• Participate in trainings and professional development.
• Support cleanliness, safety, and inventory management.
• Assist with anesthesia and sedation per protocols.
• Flexibly assist with additional duties as needed.
