Job summary

Tucson Medical Center is seeking an acute care nurse practitioner or physician assistant to join our Emergency General Surgery program. You will collaborate with a team of general surgeons to perform a wide variety of procedures, and manage inpatient and clinic duties, including scheduling cases in the OR and post-operative clinics.

Qualifications

• Education: Master’s degree in Nursing or related field.
• 5 years of related experience; RN experience acceptable.
• Arizona state RN and NP license with prescriptive authority; national NP certification or eligibility.
• BLS and ACLS certification; CPI for mental health if applicable.
• LIP status and credentialing through TMCH.

Responsibilities

• Initiates patient admissions and collects health history; provides initial care of emergencies.
• Performs physical examinations and orders diagnostic tests.
• Records health information and establishes care plans; evaluates progress.
• Collaborates with health care team and coordinates with physicians, nursing, and staff.
• Prescribes and adjusts medications; teaches prevention and wellness.
• Assists in development and revision of nursing protocols; maintains safety/compliance.
