Job summary

National Veterinary Associates is seeking a veterinary leader for an emergency-focused role in Hunt Valley, MD. The position features a strong clinical component with 75% clinical and 25% administrative duties, including a two 12-hour clinical days and two 6-hour administrative days per week.

You will guide an emergency team, oversee clinical operations, and collaborate across Ethos networks to drive advanced veterinary medicine. Sign-on, relocation support, and robust benefits are offered.

Qualifications

  • DVM required with eligibility for state veterinary licensure including DEA and CDS.
  • 5+ years of veterinary practice experience with leadership preferred; emergency experience in a specialty setting is valuable.
  • Strong communication, collaborative mindset, and commitment to patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the emergency veterinary team with clear guidance and vision.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Develop procedures to improve operations, client service, and charge capture.
  • Mentor doctors and technicians, and support onboarding and recruitment.
  • Monitor finances, labor costs, and pricing structures in the hospital.

Full-Time opportunity in Hunt Valley, Maryland

  • Total earning potential: $230,000 – $350,000 with production and annual administrative stipend

In your day-to-day, you will:
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the emergency veterinary team
  • Exemplify and instill in others the Ethos culture and core values at all times.
  • Assist in ensuring that medicine is delivered in compliance with federal, state and local regulatory agency requirements.
  • Advise on policies and procedures for “best practice” clinical operations and efficient use of staff.
  • Assist the Medical Director and hospital management in addressing client and RDVM medical review needs. Assist with the investigation, discussions and resolution of case reviews.
  • Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of procedures and processes that improve operations, workflow, medical quality, client service and charge capture in the hospital.
  • Assist Medical Director in monitoring client needs/ concerns, reviewing medical cases and providing solutions that support both our team members and clients, to include phone, email, and in-person meetings as needed.
  • Provide clinical mentoring and coaching to veterinarians and technicians.
  • Support DVM onboarding, relief scheduling, and recruitment
  • Provide coaching and feedback via 1:1 meetings with doctors and during shifts as needed
  • Review finances (production, labor costs, invoices, discounts, CE compliance, pricing structure)
  • Manage doctor and technician team relationship
  • Assist Medical Director with doctor quarterly and annual reviews
  • Partner on intra-services relationships and needs
  • Review equipment needs
  • Attend Ethos company trainings and community team events as required
What You Bring
  • DVM or equivalent veterinary degree with eligibility for state veterinary licensure including DEA and CDS
  • 5+ years’ veterinary practice experience (leadership preferred), combined with internship training or 2+ years' emergency experience in a specialty hospital setting
  • Confidence managing emergency cases and making sound clinical decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills with a compassionate, client-centered approach.
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to exceptional patient care.
