The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania Cedar location seeks an ED Tech I to join our team. The HUP Cedar campus is evolving while maintaining compassionate care, serving about 42,000 patients annually in a facility with 32 treatment rooms, including triage, resuscitation, and fast track areas.

Role Summary

The Emergency Department Technician supports the healthcare team by delivering quality care under RN supervision. Responsibilities include collecting patient data, ensuring safety, documenting care, and supporting patient activities and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in evaluating nursing care and patient status.
  • Document interventions, findings, and patient outcomes accurately.
  • Promote infection control and safety measures.
  • Monitor patient behavior and health, including vital signs and neurological checks.
  • Assist with activities of daily living and patient comfort measures.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and team meetings.
  • Support patient transportation and perform basic procedures like phlebotomy and IV insertion under RN guidance.
  • Contribute to quality monitoring and safety checks.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members.
Credentials & Education
  • Required: CNA or EMT certification, Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).
  • Preferred: EMT, CNA, or nursing student with clinical experience; H.S. Diploma/GED; prior ED experience is a plus.
