Penn Presbyterian's ED was recently one of 29 EDs across the country to be recognized by the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) as a Lantern Award recipient, recognizing exemplary professional practice and innovative performance in leadership, practice, education, advocacy, and research.
The ED specializes in the immediate recognition, evaluation, and treatment of unexpected illnesses or injuries. Open 24/7, it is equipped to provide excellent emergency care for all medical and surgical problems. ED nurses work closely with healthcare professionals in the community and worldwide to establish long-term, collaborative relationships. They are committed to being reliable resources for providing advanced treatment options and maintaining open communication with physicians and patients to ensure seamless care. The ED has recently undergone renovations, including enlarged waiting and registration areas, private exam rooms, new entrances, resuscitation rooms, a dedicated eye emergencies room, a medical imaging suite, an expanded nursing station with computerized systems, wireless bedside registration, addition of trauma services, and a redesigned front end to improve patient flow.
Responsibilities:
The Emergency Department Technician is a vital member of the healthcare team, delivering quality care through collaboration and communication. They work under the supervision of registered nurses to support patient care, including collecting and reporting patient data, supporting organizational standards, and ensuring role performance outcomes align with UPHS’s Standards of Excellence.
