Job summary

Palomar Health's Emergency Department is seeking a Night Shift Registered Nurse to deliver direct patient care in a high-acuity environment under RN supervision. The 12-hour shifts provide continuity of care and collaborative teamwork.

The role requires documentation, order transcription, and coordination of admissions, discharges and transfers. Bilingual Spanish is preferred, with English proficiency to perform essential functions.

Qualifications

• Must have High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
• BLS - Healthcare Provider certification within 6 months of hire.
• EMT/Advanced EMT/Paramedic certification preferred.
• Minimum 6 months related experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide and document care to patients in the Emergency Department under the direction of the RN.
• Transcribe physician orders and coordinate admission, discharge and transfer of patients.
• Participate as a team member to ensure appropriate resources to all internal/external customers.
• Speak and read English at a level sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position.

Job Description: Range: $30.00-$32.54 Posting Date: 8/3/2026 Internal Closing Date: 8/7/2026 * Internal candidates must apply by midnight on the Closing Date in order to have bidding rights. Provides and documents care to patients in the Emergency department under the direction of the RN, to ensure a safe, comfortable and confidential environment. Responsible for transcribing physician orders and coordinating clerical aspects of admission, discharge and transfer of patients. Participates as a team member to ensure appropriate resources to all internal/external customers. Speak and read English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position. Knowledge of standard office equipment (i.e., calculator, fax, photocopier) and personal computer and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, Powerpoint, internet, e-mail). Windows computer skills including proficient use of keyboarding, use of mouse or keys for functions such as selecting items, use of drop down menus, scroll bars, opening folders, copying and similar operations required upon employment or within the 1st two weeks of employment to perform the essential functions of the job.
