Job summary

UPMC Altoona is seeking an RN Staff Nurse for the Emergency Department. This .9 full-time role covers evenings with rotation plus six weekend shifts every six weeks and holiday rotations. Shifts run 11:00 AM–11:00 PM and 3:00 PM–3:00 AM for 36 hours per week.

The position is unionized (SEIU) with posting dated 9/8/2026. You will provide direct patient care, assess and reassess needs, and plan care with patients/families.

Qualifications

• Current RN license valid in PA.
• ED experience preferred but not required.
• BSN not required; commitment to ongoing professional development.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care using nursing protocols and administer meds and IV therapy.
• Assess patient needs and reassess every eight hours or as needed.
• Plan care with patients and families, coordinate with other professionals.
• Engage in team discussions to develop patient care plans.
• Utilize Bed Management System, Alpha, and CPOE.
• Educate patients and families; contribute to staff education.
• Ensure safety by following universal precautions and maintaining competencies.
