Job summary

Jobtailor in New Hampshire is seeking a healthcare support professional to assist with direct and indirect patient care under the guidance of a Registered Nurse or Paramedic. You will help maintain the care environment, follow policies, and support the care team.

The role requires EMT-B/EMT-A or LNA certification, BLS, and at least one year of relevant experience. You will work within a multidisciplinary team and may precept new staff.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Current EMT-B/EMT-A or LNA certification.
  • BLS certification from American Heart Association.
  • At least one year of experience as an EMT or LNA.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with patients and multi-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct and indirect patient care under RN or Paramedic guidance.
  • Support patient care environment and supply functions.
  • Follow Emergency standards and organizational policies and protocols.
  • Report to Nurse Manager with shift supervision by Charge Nurse.
  • Respond to requests for patient care assistance from RN.
  • Perform IV catheter insertion and medication administration as delegated.
  • Collect and process laboratory specimens.
  • Maintain department supplies and equipment; assist with clerical duties.
  • Serve as a preceptor for new employees.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct and indirect patient care under the guidance and direction of the Registered Nurse or Paramedic
  • Provide patient support and manage environmental and supply functions as part of the patient care team
  • Adhere to Emergency specialty standards and organizational standards, policies, procedures, guidelines, and protocols
  • Report to the Nurse Manager with daily shift supervision by the Charge Nurse
  • Respond to requests for patient care assistance delegated by the Registered Nurse
  • Perform patient care tasks, including intravenous catheter insertion and medication administration, as delegated by the RN
  • Collect and process laboratory specimens
  • Maintain department supplies and equipment
  • Assist with clerical duties
  • Perform job-specific requirements and other assigned duties
  • Serve as a preceptor for new employees
Requirements
  • High school or equivalent (GED)
  • National Registry Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (EMT-B) or National Registry Emergency Medical Technician-Advanced (EMT-A) or Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA)
  • Basic Life Support - American Heart Association
  • One year of prior experience as an EMT or LNA
  • Evidence of experience working effectively and positively with patients, care providers, and the multi-disciplinary team
  • Evidence of the ability to perform as a member of a team
  • Ability to regularly hear
  • Ability to frequently bend, speak, squat, stand, and walk
  • Ability to occasionally perform repetitive motion, kneel, perform fine motor activities, reach, and sit
  • Required color vision, depth perception, far vision, near vision, and peripheral vision
  • Ability to occasionally work around airborne pathogens, bloodborne pathogens, bodily fluids, and moving mechanical parts
  • Ability to lift, carry, or push/pull up to 10 pounds regularly, 10–25 pounds frequently, and 20–50 pounds occasionally
