Job summary

Job description

• Respond to medical emergencies with an RN and transport patients to the ED
• Respond to critical patient situations
• Set up and assist with operating specialty equipment
• Perform clinical procedures within scope of practice
• Perform EKGs, glucometry, phlebotomy, point-of-care testing, and collect/send specimens
• Perform quality control checks as appropriate
• Perform out-of-bed/back-to-bed activities as appropriate
• Provide safe, appropriate, quality patient care
• Communicate new orders, changes in patient condition, and unit concerns with the unit-based team
• Restock unit supplies as needed
• Perform patient observations under RN direction and supervision
• Perform code cart, defibrillator, and unit-specific maintenance duties
• Assist with gynecological exams
• Apply, maintain, and remove immobilization devices as needed
• Perform CPR

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
• CPR certification
• Medical terminology
• First Receivers - Operations Level Hazardous Materials Emergency Response
• Ability to sit up to 2 hours per day and 1 hour at a time
• Ability to stand up to 12 hours per day and 8 hours at a time
• Ability to walk up to 12 hours per day and 10 minutes at a time
• Ability to consistently lift, carry, and push objects up to 30 pounds
• Ability to frequently lift, carry, and push objects up to 75 pounds
• Ability to transport patients weighing up to 400 lbs via wheelchair, bed, and/or stretcher
• Ability to frequently stoop, bend, and reach above shoulder level
• Ability to perceive attributes of an object through touch
• Ability to hear normal conversation and high/low frequencies
• Ability to see general, near, far, color, and peripheral vision
