Job summary

UNC Health in Lenoir Health Care's Emergency Department is seeking a Nursing Assistant II to provide direct patient care in the ED under supervision of licensed staff. The role includes performing EKGs and phlebotomy as needed and ensuring the patient and family experience reflects the hospital's commitment to quality and compassionate care.

Two years of healthcare experience is preferred, with NC NA II certification and BLS.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• NC Board of Nursing approved NA II course.
• EKG and phlebotomy training completed on the job.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in the ED as delegated by Licensed Nursing Staff.
• Perform EKGs and phlebotomy as needed in the department.

Summary:

• High school graduate or equivalent. Completion of North Carolina Board of Nursing approved Nursing Assistant II course. Completes the EKG and phlebotomy on the job training.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT

• Two years of health care experience preferred.

LICENSURE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION

• Certified by the State Board of Nursing as a NA II, and BLS certification.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS

• Good interpersonal, communication, and observation skills are essential. Understanding of patient care needs according to developmental stages for various age groups.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Exposure to bloodborne pathogens requiring the use of protective equipment; exposure to other infectious diseases. Exposure to chemicals utilized to clean and disinfect equipment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Working and standing throughout the shift. Lifting, pulling, turning, and pushing patients daily.
