Job summary

PeaceHealth is seeking an Emergency Department Technician II to join the Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend in Springfield, OR. This part-time role offers a fast-paced environment where EMT/Paramedic skills directly impact patient care.

You will collaborate with ED physicians, nurses, and the clinical team to deliver high-quality care, perform procedures, and support patients through transitions of care while advancing your clinical expertise.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an EMT-Intermediate, Advanced EMT (AEMT), or EMT-Paramedic program.
  • Current Oregon EMT-I, AEMT, or EMT-P certification.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required on hire.
  • IV and phlebotomy skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain and document vital signs.
  • Start IVs and perform blood draws.
  • Assist with emergency and bedside procedures.
  • Help with wound care, dressings, and splinting.
  • Support airway management and monitoring.
  • Perform point-of-care testing.
  • Assist with patient transport and discharge preparation.
  • Communicate clearly with patients and families.
  • Enter orders and assist with documentation.

Emergency Department | PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend | Springfield, OR Part-Time | 0.60 FTE | Evening Shift (1100-2330)

Pay Range: $25.59 - $39.96 per hour

The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.

This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement. There may be more than one opening on this posting.

What You'll Do

As an Emergency Department Technician II, you'll play a hands-on role in delivering exceptional emergency care.

Direct Patient Care
  • Obtain and document vital signs.
  • Start IVs and perform blood draws.
  • Assist with emergency and bedside procedures.
  • Help with wound care, dressings, and splinting.
  • Support airway management and cardiac monitoring.
  • Perform point-of-care testing.
  • Assist with patient transport throughout the department.
  • Help prepare patients for discharge and provide support during transitions of care.
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients and families.
Patient Monitoring & Safety
  • Observe patients and promptly report changes in condition.
  • Assist in monitoring patients requiring enhanced observation.
  • Support a safe, respectful, and patient-focused care environment.
Department Support
  • Prepare treatment rooms and equipment.
  • Stock supplies and maintain readiness for patient care needs.
  • Help keep clinical areas clean, organized, and efficient.
  • Enter orders, retrieve results, and assist with clinical documentation.
  • Support communication between team members to keep patient care moving forward.
What You'll Bring
Required
  • Graduate of an EMT-Intermediate, Advanced EMT (AEMT), or EMT-Paramedic program.
  • Current Oregon EMT-I, AEMT, or EMT-P certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire, issued through either American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification upon hire, issued through either American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • IV and phlebotomy skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced emergency environment.
  • Successful completion of ED orientation, training, and competency requirements.
Preferred
  • Experience in a pre-hospital, EMS, or Emergency Department setting.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
