Job summary

Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital Needham is seeking an ED Technician for a part-time, 24-hour rotating shift in Needham, MA. The role supports physicians and nurses, performs EKGs, phlebotomy, wound care, and other clinical tasks, and handles minor clerical duties.

The position requires a High School diploma or GED, BLS-AHA certification, and 0-1 years of related experience, with proficiency in basic computer systems and Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• BLS-AHA required or obtained within 30 days of hire.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• 0-1 years related work experience required.
• Experience with computer systems including web-based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.

Responsibilities

• Performs competently and safely in clinical tasks of EKGs, phlebotomy, wound care, splinting, crutch walking, patient activities of daily living and post-mortem care.
• Performs lab testing, specimen collection, according to protocol and communicates results to the appropriate department personnel and documents in the medical record. Inclusive of Point of Care Testing.
• Performs vital signs according to protocol and communicates results to appropriate department personnel and documents interventions in the medical record.
• Performs visual acuity testing competently and reports results to clinical nurse and ED attending.
• Performs oxygen saturation testing competently and reports results to clinical nurse and ED attending.
