Froedtert South, Inc. Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, United States seeks an Emergency Department Technician to assist in providing patient care under the direction of ED physicians and RNs.

The role supports patient data collection, basic care tasks, clerical duties, and coordination of interdepartmental and inter-hospital transfers, including EMS handoffs, to ensure timely communication and patient safety across the lifespan.

Qualifications

• High School diploma plus EMT/CNA or Medical Assistant training (2 months to 2 years)
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Current BLS/CPR certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire

About this position

POSITION PURPOSE

Under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN), the Emergency Department Technician provides patient care for all patients throughout the lifespan.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED

High School plus specialized training for EMT, C.N.A. or Medical Assistant (2 months to 2 years)

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Entry Level

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Current BLS and/or CPR certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross or the ability to obtain certification within 90 days of hire.

Current status as a National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT), a licensed Wisconsin Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Basic, a Wisconsin Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.) or a Medical Assistant (MA) who is a graduate of an associate degree program for Medical Assisting.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED

Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Performs technical skills under the supervision of the Emergency Department physicians and RNs for all patients throughout the lifespan.

Assists medical and nursing staff with patient data collections, patient care, clerical duties and documents/communicates appropriately.

Assists with facilitating interdepartmental and inter-hospital patient transfers as well as patient transfers between the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) providers and the Emergency Department.
