Silver Cross Hospital is seeking a full-time Emergency Department Triage Technician to assist the RN team by accelerating initial data gathering, triage, and patient transport. You’ll work afternoons (11a-11p) with weekend and holiday rotations within the ED, ensuring efficient patient flow and adherence to protocolized tasks.

Required: IL CNA/EMT-B license and CPR. Strong customer service, compassion, and excellent communication.

Position Summary: Supports and complements the nursing process under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Obtains complete, accurate and relevant patient data for the purpose of registration for the outpatient, free-standing emergency department and inpatient population.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Vital signs
• Keeps charge Nurse aware of delays with patient care
• Facilitating calls to medical staff
• Facilitates patient transfer in collaboration with ED care team
• Acknowledges and incorporates - the importance of culture, the assessment of cross-cultural relations, and vigilance towards the dynamics that result from cultural differences, the expansion of cultural knowledge, and the adaptation of services to meet culturally unique needs.
• Promotes a clean and safe environment of care, utilizing the SAFE error prevention habits
• Provides the highest standard of privacy and confidentiality in matters involving patients, coworkers, and the hospital by abiding by the Standards of Conduct

Required Qualifications :

Education and Training :

• Currently certified by the state of Illinois as a CNA or EMT-B license.
• Current CPR.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to care for patients with compassion and maintain quality in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to learn clerking.

Work Shift Details:

Afternoons - 12 hours, The Emergency Department Triage Technician functions as a designated clinical extender and assistant to the Triage Registered Nurse (RN). The primaryobjectiveof this role is to accelerate theinitialdata gathering, diagnostic testing, and transport of arriving patients tooptimizeoverall department throughout. Operating under a strict, non-interpretive scope of work, the position executes protocolized clinical tasks and conducts scheduled safety surveillance within the waiting lobby tomaintaina secure environment and mitigate clinical deterioration risks. 11a-11p full-time triage technician with rotating weekends and holiday rotation.

Requirements: Currently certified by the state of Illinois as a CNA or EMT-B license. CPR. Previous ER experience strongly preferred. Ability to care for patients with compassion and maintain quality in a fast pace environment. Must be organized, have excellent communication and customer service skills, great computer skills, must use proper phone etiquette and knowledgeable with Medical Terminology.

The expected pay for this position is listed below:

$18.65 - $22.85

The final pay rate offered may be more than the posted range based on several factors including but not limited to: licensure, certifications, work experience, education, knowledge, demonstrated abilities, internal equity, market data, and more.
