Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking an Emergency Department Technician to support nursing staff and provide direct care to patients in the ED. The role includes data collection, basic clinical duties, and patient transport in a fast-paced environment.

The technician will perform phlebotomy, assist with mobility and daily activities, and communicate with the healthcare team while ensuring patient comfort and safety.

Qualifications

• Education: HS Diploma/GED required.
• Experience: 1 year of experience.
• Certification: BLS required or within 30 days of hire.
• Strong communication and relational skills.

Responsibilities

• Assists with patient care, collects vitals, weight, pulse oximetry, pain scale, nutrition intake, and documents data.
• Recognizes abnormal data and reports promptly; follows physician/nurse orders; records interventions.
• Provides direct technical care including mobility, toileting, feeding and personal care.
• Performs phlebotomy and handles specimen transport for lab review.
• Transports patients to and from the department as needed.
• Supports patient education, consoles patients and families, and addresses concerns.
• Performs clinical coordination activities and communicates with nurses, physicians, and the health care team.
