Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina seeks an Emergency Department Technician II to provide individualized patient care under supervision, applying the nursing process and collaborating with the health care team to deliver safe, compassionate care. The role requires strong teamwork, adherence to standards of care, and the ability to support both patients and families in a high-energy ED environment.

Education includes a high school diploma; BLS certification; prior ED/CNA/EMT experience

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS or Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification required.
  • At least 1 year in an ED Technician I position or CNA/EMT/CMA/Paramedic or equivalent.
  • College degree or enrollment in nursing school with fundamentals coursework also acceptable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care to patients using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation).
  • Direct and lead other assigned team members and collaborate with multidisciplinary team to provide age-appropriate care.
  • Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment with patient privacy and professional behavior.
  • Coordinate delivery of patient care through application of care management principles.
  • Participate in shared governance and professional development to promote clinical excellence.
