Job summary

Children’s Hospital of Michigan ED Tech I supports the emergency department patient care team with multi-skilled direct and indirect patient care under RN supervision. You will assist in data gathering, monitoring patient conditions, and documenting interventions to ensure timely responses.

Collaborating with care team members, you’ll participate in ongoing education, protect patient privacy, and assist with clerical tasks as needed to maintain efficient unit operations and high-quality care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Graduation from a practical nursing program or equivalent training.
• Completion of one of the listed programs with six months direct patient care experience preferred.
• PCA/PCT, CNA, Medical Assistant, EMT or Phlebotomy training required.

Responsibilities

• Assist RN by gathering data on patient conditions and monitoring health status.
• Document interventions and patient responses per policy.
• Respond to emergency patient situations under supervision.
• Assist in training other technicians and care team members.
• Follow departmental policies, safety, and infection control standards.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and explain procedures to patients/families.
• Perform basic clerical duties such as answering calls and greeting patients.
• Pursue ongoing education and competency development.
